Dane Issue's

There are a few health risks with Dane’s, the major or more common is Bloat/ twisted bowel. No-one knows for sure why some dogs bloat and others don’t but there are a few things that can help reduce the risk of it happening.
  1. Put your dogs food dish in an elevated position (like on an old chair or on a bucket) so as the dog does not have to bend down to the ground to eat his/her food.
  2. Do not allow your dog to gulp down its food or water quickly
  3. Feed smaller more frequent meals during the day ( two or more is recommended)
  4. Make sure your Dane does not run around for half an hour before or after their meal.
Another injury that Dane’s can sometimes get are Hygroma’s (fluid on the elbow). This is from flopping themselves down onto a hard surface because sometimes they are just too lazy to make the effort to lie down gentle, all you can do is make sure you have a nice soft comfortable bed for your Dane.
Another problem that growing Dane’s can have is bone disorder’s. This is because  the majority of the time they have been fed incorrectly, listen to what your breeder says about feeding and follow instructions and advice (they have raised puppies and know what they are talking about).
